Warriors Tame Lady Bears, 88-47
LEWISTON, ID--The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors rolled to an easy 88-47 win over Frontier Conference rival Rocky Mountain College, in a women’s basketball game played Saturday night, at Warrior Gymnasium.
Shanta Coleman led a balanced scoring attack for Lewis-Clark State (19-9, 9-4 Frontier Conference) with 14 points. She also dished out a team-high six assists with four steals and five rebounds. Shannon Russel and Jessica Foot added 13 points apiece while Katarina Gabaniova, Brianne Kottwitz, and Kendra West all tallied ten points each. Amy Flaig led the Warriors with seven rebounds.
Stacey Nevrivy led Rocky Mountain College (14-15, 4-8) with 14 points, 12 of which came from behind the arc. Heather Heggem grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. The Lady Bears only made five field goals in the first half and shot an ice cold 23.1% from the floor for the game.
The Warriors opened the game with 14-2 run and never looked back, leading by as many as 17 in the first half, despite shooting only 35% from the field. Another 14-2 run by L-C, this one to open the second half, blew the game wide open, 51-23, with 15:52 remaining. A layup by Coleman with 7:54 remaining gave the Warriors its biggest lead of the game, 44, 80-36.
Lewis-Clark State wraps up its regular season on Thursday when they host Westminster College of Salt Lake City.
