Brian Orr, a former assistant women’s basketball coach at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT, is the new head women’s basketball coach at Lewis-Clark State College. He becomes the sixth women’s basketball head coach in the 26-year history of the program.

Orr was the top assistant coach for the Montana State Bobcats during the 2000-01 campaign under interim head coach Frank McCarthy. This past season, the Bobcats finished with an 18-10 overall record and an 11-5 record in the Big Sky Conference. MSU also posted the fourth-best turnaround in NCAA Division I.

" I am excited," said Orr. "This is a tremendous opportunity and I am looking forward to continuing the excellence that Mike Divilbiss has built here at Lewis-Clark State."

Prior to his stop in Bozeman, Orr served as the first women’s basketball coach at the University of Great Falls in 15 years. He recruited many of the players that suited up for the Lady Argonauts this Winter.

Orr also served as an assistant coach at perennial NCAA Division II power, Montana State University-Billings from 1996-98. At MSU-Billings, he once again served under McCarthy and helped lead the Yellowjackets to a 64-22 in his three-year stint, including a 25-6 record during the 1998-99 season that saw MSU-Billings advance to the "Elite Eight". In all three years, the Yellowjackets advanced to the NCAA II National Tournament.

Before serving at MSU-Billings, Orr was the head boy’s basketball coach at Fergus High School in Lewistown, MT, from 1991-96. He was named the school’s Teacher of the Year in 1996.

Orr also served as both the boy’s and girl’s coach at Simms High School in Simms, MT, from 1986-91. In 1990, he lead the team to the Montana State High School Class B Championship. Orr was chosen as the Coach of the Year by the Montana Coaches Association. In 1989, he was honored by the Dufresne Foundation as the Outstanding Educator of the Year.

He began his coaching career at Joplin-Inverness High School in Joplin, MT. From 1982-86, Orr served as the boy’s and girl’s coach and Athletic Director. In Orr’s 14-year high school coaching career, his teams have won five conference titles and his girl’s teams have amassed a 101-39 (.721) record.

Orr is a 1982 graduate of Eastern Montana College, now known as Montana State-Billings, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education. He received his Master’s of Science Degree in Education from MSU-Billings in 1997.

Orr is married to the former Bonnie Olson. The couple has four children, Pat, Casey, TJ, and Bobby.
