Warriors Picked Sixth in NAIA Preseason Basketball Poll
LEWISTON, ID-The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors are ranked sixth in the NAIA Division I Preseason Women’s Basketball Poll released this past Tuesday. The Warriors were ranked fifth in final poll last year.
Lewis-Clark State is coming off of a 33-4 season last year. The team made its first-ever appearance in the Final Four and made its sixth straight trip to the tournament. The Warriors return five players from last year’s squad.
The Oklahoma City University Stars, the defending national champions, are the unanimous pick for first-place, garnering all 12 first-place votes. The Stars knocked the Warriors out of the tournament in the national semifinals. Southern Nazarene University, a Final Four participant, is the preseason’s #2 ranked team. Both teams belong to the Sooner Athletic Conference. Union University, an opponent for the Warriors later on in the year, is ranked third. Auburn-Montgomery, the national runners-up, and Campbellsville round out the top five.
From the Frontier Conference, Montana-Western is ranked #15 and Montana State-Northern #20.
The Warriors will also take on #19 Lambuth at the Union University Rotary Classic.
