Warriors Fall Ten Spots to #22

LEWISTON, ID-The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors fell ten spots to #22 in the latest NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Top 25 Poll released Tuesday, December 11th. Lewis-Clark State was ranked #12 last week.

Lewis-Clark State (6-4) lost to then 17th ranked Lambuth, 58-45, and then third-ranked Union, 79-61, last weekend at the Union University Rotary Classic in Jackson, Tenn. The Warriors will play another tough opponent in Simon Fraser, the top ranked team in Canada, Saturday night at 6:00 PM, which opens a four-game home stand. Next Monday, LCSC hosts NCAA Division III’s Linfield College at 7:00 PM, and then will play NCAA Division II’s Western New Mexico University on Wednesday and Thursday, at 7:00 and 5:00 PM respectively.

The top five has jostled around, but Oklahoma City (10-0) is still the unanimous selection for number one. Fellow Sooner Athletic Conference rivals Oklahoma Baptist (10-1) is ranked second while Southern Nazarene (8-2) is ranked fifth. Campbellsville (11-1) slipped one spot to #3 and Union (11-2) also fell one spot to #4.

Other Frontier Conference teams that are ranked: Montana-Western (11-3) fell from #6 to #10; Montana State-Northern (11-2) moved up two spots to #18; and Rocky Mountain College picked up one vote for the Top 25.

The next poll will be released January 8th.

NOTE: The men’s team from Lewis-Clark State did not receive a vote for the Top 25. Lee (Tenn.) University (8-0) remains the top ranked team with six first-place votes. Georgetown College (11-0) remains second with one first-place vote. Biola University (10-0) moved up three spots to #3 and received one first-place vote. Oklahoma Baptist (10-0) dropped one spot to #4, but garnered two first-place votes. Spring Hill (Ala.) remains #5 and received two first-place votes.

The only Frontier Conference that is ranked in Carroll College (9-3) at #24. They were not ranked last week. Montana State-Northern was one vote shy of entering the Top 25 and Westminster College received only two votes for the poll.
