LEWISTON, ID-The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors placed three of its players on the All-Frontier Conference Women’s Basketball Team released Saturday, March 2nd.

Brianne Kottwitz (Bozeman, MT/Bozeman HS), Katarina Gabaniova (Bratislava, Slovakia), and Shanta Coleman (San Diego, CA/Umpqua CC) were the selected Warriors to the first-team. Shannon Russel (Ritzville, WA/Ritzville HS) and Jessica Foot (Karana Downs/St. Peter’s Lutheran College) were named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Kottwitz, a 5-7 senior guard, is a three-time All-Frontier Conference selection, earning MVP honors as a sophomore. This season, she is averaging 11.7 points per game, 3.6 assists per game and, 2.7 steals per game. Kottwitz led the conference in steals and finished ninth in scoring, and sixth in assists. Kottwitz broke the college’s all-time assist record earlier in the season.

Gabaniova, a 6-3 senior post, leads L-C with a 12.8 ppg average and has blocked 41 shots. She has also made 74.7% of her free throws. Gabaniova is the league’s fourth leading scorer, eight-best rebounder (6.0), fourth-best field goal percentage (49.5), ninth in free throw shooting, and second in blocks per game (1.5). Gabaniova broke the school’s all-time shot block record earlier this season.

Coleman, a 5-10 junior guard, leads L-C in rebounding, 7.1, and is averaging 10.2 ppg and 3.8 apg. She finished fifth in rebounding, in league play, eight in assists, and fifth in steals.

Russel earns her second-consecutive Honorable Mention All-Conference nod, and Foot, the Warriors’ sixth-man, earns her first All-Conference selection.

Player of the Year honors go to Bobbi Suhr of Montana-Western, who shared the honor last year. Kevin Engllent of Montana-Western, earns Coach of the Year honors.

Other first-team selections are: Nikki McElligott and Jennifer Curl, Carroll College; Suhr and Alison Burlingame, Montana-Western; Paula Owens, MSU-Northern; Callie Sparing, Rocky Mountain College; and, Rebekah Steenblik, Westminster College.
