Elpidia Valle Signs Letter of Intent to Attend
Lewis-Clark State and Play Basketball
LEWISTON, ID-Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball coach Brian Orr announced that Elpidia Valle (pronounced L-P-dee-ah vie-A) (Nampa, ID/Treasure Valley Community College/Skyview HS), has signed a letter of intent to attend the school and play basketball. She will enroll as a junior and have two years of eligibility.
"Today we became a better basketball team," said Orr. "Elpidia is the kind of point guard that is hard to guard and exciting to watch. Besides being a great passer, she has the ability to score from the perimeter and on the inside as well. She’s strong, mature, and I really like her competitive attitude. We expect her to play a key role on next year’s team."
The 5-9 guard set three school records at TVCC, including career (197) and single season (145) assists, and in one game had a record setting 15 assists. Valle’s statistics could have been even better, but she was forced to miss the last seven regular season games with an ankle injury. In her sophomore season she averaged 6.7 assists per game and 10.1 points per game while shooing 40.5% from the floor. She was also effective from behind the arc, connecting on 40.7% of her shots from 3-point range. Valle is fourth in school history in steals with 92. In her first year at Treasure Valley, Valle lead the Chukar’s in rebounding averaging, 4.7 per game, for coach Brent Harrison.
A four year starter at Skyview High in Nampa, Valle was an A-1 Team All-State and 1st Team All-Conference selection. As a senior, she averaged 10.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, and 3.0 apg.
She joins Big Bend’s Lyndsey Brandt, and Lewiston High’s Cami Kalbfleisch, in Orr’s 2002 recruiting class
