LEWISTON, ID-Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball coach Brian Orr announced that Kristin Gunderson (Portland, OR/Woodrow Wilson HS) has signed a letter of intent to attend the school and play basketball.

"Kristin possesses all those qualities that coach’s appreciate," said Orr. "She’s a tremendous athlete with an unbelievable work ethic. She is really good around the basket and has a great jump shot. Kristin will give us that added depth inside. She’s a perfect fit for our program."

Gunderson, a 6-1 post player, was last year’s team MVP and was also named the 2002 Female Athlete of the Year at Wilson High School. She led the Trojans to two Portland Interscholastic League (PIL) titles. This past season, the Trojans finished with a record of 22-4 and were 18-0 in the PIL. In the two games in the Oregon State Class 4A Tournament, Gunderson scored 21 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. She was a two-time 1st Team All-League selection and received All-State honors her senior year. She averaged 15.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game. A stand out in both track and volleyball, Gunderson was also honored with her school’s Academic Star award, lettering in three sports and maintaining above a 3.50 grade point average.

Gunderson joins Big Bend’s Lyndsey Brandt, Cami Kalbfleisch from Lewiston High School, and Treasure Valley’s Elpidia Valle in Orr’s 2002 recruiting class.
