Warriors Roll Past Griffins on Senior Night, 82-49
LEWISTON, ID--The 22nd-ranked Lewis-Clark State Warriors used a 31-4 run to start the second half to blowout the Westminster College Griffins, 82-49, in a Frontier Conference women’s basketball game Thursday night at Warrior Gymnasium. The game was the final regular season game for both teams. Lewis-Clark State has won 20 or more games for the ninth year in a row and the tenth in the last eleven.
Brianne Kottwitz led Lewis-Clark State (20-9, 10-4 Frontier Conference) with a team-high 18 points and also registered four steals in her final game at Warrior Gymnasium. Kyla Harris poured in 16 points and pulled down five rebounds. Shanta Coleman recorded her team-leading fourth double-double with an 11 point, ten rebound effort, and also tallied seven assists. Jessica Foot came off of the bench to add 12 points and six rebounds. Fellow seniors Katarina Gabaniova and Shannon Russel scored six and two points, respectively.
Rebekah Steenblik recorded a double-double with a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds for Westminster College (8-20). Ashlee Grange added ten points.
The Warriors led wire-to-wire in this game, but struggled in the first half shooting only 37.5% from the floor. Russel hit a layup with 18:22 remaining in the game, and that sparked a 14-0 run over the next three minutes. After a Steenblik jumper made it 50-30 in favor of the Warriors, L-C went on a 13-0 run.
Lewis-Clark State will open the Frontier Conference Tournament on Wednesday, February 27th, against the #7 seed, at 12:00 PM MST. Westminster College will enter the same tournament and play on Thursday.
