BILLINGS, Mont. -- Lewis-Clark State's quest for a school record was waylaid by a team well on the way to one of its own.

Rocky Mountain College won its 15th consecutive game on its home court while ending the 10th-ranked Warriors' winning streak at 11, prevailing 86-78 in a Frontier Conference men's basketball game Saturday night.

L-C's string of victories matched the program's best mark, set in the 1957-58 season.

The Bears are unbeaten in 10 home games this year.

The Warriors couldn't fully recover from a dreadful first half in which the shot 34 percent from the field, 18 percent from 3-point range and committed 10 turnovers. RMC led 40-27 at the break.

"We got in a hurry and ended up taking a lot of bad shots," L-C coach George Pfeifer said. "We gave them fire -- our poor offensive decisions created opportunities for their offense. They got a lot of points in transition."

The Warriors gradually cut into RMC's advantage in the second half, trailing 51-42 with 15 minutes to play and 67-62 with 8 1/2 minutes remaining. They got within three points inside the final two minutes, but saw the rally blunted by the well-balanced Bears.

RMC (11-8 overall, 2-1 in conference) had five players crack into double-digit scoring. Jake Stewart collected 17 points, while Greg Wood and Bobby Coleman scored 16 and 15 points, respectively.

Danny Allen led L-C (19-3, 3-1) with 19 points

"If we would have played in first half like we did in the last 15 minutes of the game, we'd have given ourselves a good chance of winning," Pfeifer said. "To win here, we needed to be a little tougher. And we just didn't have that edge."
