DILLON, Mont. -- The Lewis-Clark State men's basketball team suffered a 97-88 setback to Montana-Western on Friday night -- a team the Warriors had beaten by 59 points less than a month ago.
Not surprisingly, this didn't make L-C coach George Pfeifer happy.
"We'll definitely have a different starting lineup," he said. "I don't know who."
The 16th-ranked Warriors, now 21-5 overall and 5-3 in the Frontier Conference, won't have much time to make changes. They'll journey to Butte to face Montana Tech tonight.
On a basket by Ricky Frazier late in the first half, LCSC pulled to within four at the break. But the Bulldogs made a charge early in the second half, getting ahead by as much as 14.
The Warriors sliced to within six with 1:08 remaining, but climbed no further.
"We're not very good about staying with the plan," Pfeifer said. "We're (trying) to out-talent you. That's not always going to work. That's really shaking the dice."
LCSC's starting five scored 32 points. From the bench, the Warriors got 21 points and 10 rebounds from Martin Brothers and 21 points from Ricky Frazier, who was returning from a two-game suspension.
Six UMW players scored in double figures, led by Josh Keller's 19-point showing. The Bulldogs had a field day at the foul line, hitting 30 of 37 attempts.
UMW also shot 50.8 percent from the floor.
"We never got back-to-back-to-back stops," Pfeifer said. "If you don't get stops, you can't make a run."
After beating Carroll in its first conference road game, the Warriors have lost their last three away from Lewiston.
