Pete Van Mullem enters
his first season as assistant basketball coach with the Warrior Men’s
Basketball team. He joins Coach Walker’s program from Ottawa University
(2002-05), a NAIA Institution located in Ottawa, KS, where he served as
assistant athletic director and assistant men’s basketball coach. His
12-year coaching career includes stops at Cal-State Northridge (2001-02)
in Los Angeles, CA where he was the men’s basketball team’s
administrative assistant coach and Humboldt State University (200-01) in
Arcata, CA, where as an assistant coach he helped lead the Lumberjacks
to a 20-8 record and a berth in the NCAA Div. II Western Regional
Tournament. From 1993-1999, Van Mullem spent six years as an assistant
basketball coach at Bozeman High School in Bozeman, MT. He held
positions of head freshman coach, junior varsity coach and varsity
assistant. In 10 years at the school as a player and a coach, Van
Mullem was a part of four state championship basketball teams.
Van Mullem earned his bachelor’s degree in business marketing from
Montana State University and completed his master’s degree from the
University of Kansas in Sport Administration. He is currently pursuing
his PhD from the University of Idaho in Sport Ethics.
In addition to his duties at Lewis-Clark State College, Van Mullem is
the Executive Director of the Win the Tip! Basketball Coaches Network, a
non-profit organization committed to serving the coaching profession and
influencing with integrity. His wife Heather is a visiting assistant
professor at Lewis-Clark State College in the Kinesiology Department.
They have one daughter, Lily and reside in Moscow, ID.

may be the real reason a lot of stuff gets done in our program. He has
great organizational skills, and is able to utilize that in so many
areas of our program. He too has some great experience to draw from, as
he has worked for some very good coaches in the past. Pete will focus
on recruiting, film exchange, and practice and game coaching. We are
lucky to have Pete in our program.”
