DILLON, Mont.
-- The Lewis-Clark State men let a 12-point
lead in the second half slip away, falling
to Montana Western 59-58 Friday night in
Frontier Conference action.
The decisive blow
came with two seconds left when the
Bulldogs' Jeff Graham hit a layup to cap
UMW's late rally.
L-C, the 18th-ranked
team in NAIA Division I, took control in the
opening minutes of the second half, building
a 51-39 lead. But UMW started to chip away,
going on a 16-2 tear to grab a one-point
advantage with four minutes left.
After the clubs
traded buckets, Wes Morales hit a pair of
free throws to cut L-C's led to 58-57 with
17 seconds left. The Warriors then missed a
shot and Graham followed with his heroics.
Montana Western
(9-13, 3-3) outrebounded L-C 40-22. The
Bulldogs won despite committing 23
turnovers.
L-C, meanwhile, got
a huge night from Jonathan Burnett, who
poured in 24 points, half of which came from
the 3-point line.
