Warrior men over Fraser Valley 78-49

 12-20-06

Picking up the defensive intensity in the second half, the Lewis-Clark State College men’s basketball team won for the fifth time in its last six outings with a 78-49 triumph over the University College of Fraser Valley Cascade at the LCSC Activity Center on Wednesday night.

The Warriors, 8-4 overall, led 40-32 at halftime, but held the Canadian visitors from Abbotsford, British Columbia to just 17 second-half points to roll to the victory. Fraser Valley, 9-14 overall, made just 6-of-31 shots in the second half (19.4 percent) and were 0-for-11 from the 3-point line.

LCSC’s defense set the tone for the offense as the Warriors enjoyed their sixth highest scoring output of the season. The Warriors balanced attack saw all 11 players who saw action score at least two points.

LCSC forced 29 turnovers in the game and held Fraser Valley to just 19-of-62 shooting from the field, 30.6 percent. Included in that total was a 4-of-17 effort from the 3-point line, 17.6 percent.

With all the missed shots, LCSC collected 50 rebounds in the contest to control the boards.
