LCSC men’s basketball signs two from
Sheridan College

6-14-07

Lewis-Clark State College men’s basketball coach Tim Walker has announced the signing of two players from Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyo., who will play for the Warriors next season.

Brian Duckworth, a 6-foot guard who can play both the point and shooting guard positions, and Kasey Riley, a 6-7 forward, will play for the Warriors next season. Both will be juniors eligibility-wise.

Sheridan posted a 27-4 record and made it to the quarterfinals of the Region IX Junior College Tournament before losing by two points in overtime to end its season.

Duckworth, who is from Fresno, Calif., was the Region IX Defender of the Year last season. He also averaged 12.1 points, 2.5 steals, 4.1 assists, and 4.0 rebounds a game. Duckworth was 47-of-98 from the 3-point line (48 percent) and was 59-of-72 at the foul line (81.9 percent).

Riley hails from Rock Springs, Wyo., and averaged 9.9 points and 5.0 rebounds a game last year. He shot 48 percent from the field and 72 percent from the foul line.

“We are very pleased to add two quality players and people like Kasey and Brian,” Walker says.  “Sheridan College is a very good program and Coach Joel Davidson does a fantastic job with his players.

“Brian can play either guard position, and he can defend either spot very well.  He is such a poised and well-rounded player that will add depth to our guards.  Kasey is another well-rounded player.  He can post up, and has a variety of moves in which he can score the ball.  He can also face up and put the ball on the floor very well.  We really liked Kasey’s toughness on the defensive end also.”

The two join 6-2 guard Mikel Watson, a transfer from Utah State University, as new players on the team next season, and more signings will be announced during the next week.

The Warriors lost five seniors from last year’s squad, which won both the Frontier Conference regular season and tournament titles and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament.
