1-3-08
For the second time this
season, Lewis-Clark State
College senior forward Mike
Gordy has been named the
Frontier Conference’s men’s
basketball Player of the
Week.
Gordy picked up the honor
again Thursday for his play
last week in a pair of
victories over Thompson
Rivers University. In
Friday’s 97-66 win, the
6-foot-5 product of Denver,
Colo., finished 10-of-16
from the field and 6-of-6 at
the foul line to finish with
a game-high 28 points. He
also had three rebounds, two
assists, and two steals.
On Saturday, he followed it
up with another solid
performance in the Warriors’
106-57 win. In that game he
was 7of-9 from the field and
10-of-12 at the foul line
for 25 points. He also added
four rebounds, one assist,
one steal and one blocked
shot.
For the two games, Gordy
averaged 26.5 points, shot
68 percent from the field
(17 of 25, including a
perfect 3-of-3 from the
3-point area), and was
16-of-18 at the foul line.
Jenna Sawyer of Rocky
Mountain won the women’s
honor, while Vanessa West of
LCSC was nominated for the
award.
Both LCSC teams will be back
in action on Saturday when
they open Frontier
Conference play in Salt Lake
City against Westminster.
