LCSC men lose to another hot
shooting team in the Skyhawk
Basketball Classic
12-1-07
FORT LEWIS, Colo. –
Very
similar to Friday's loss to
Fort Lewis College, depth
issues and a great shooting
performance by the opposing
team resulted in the
Lewis-Clark State College
men’s basketball team losing
to Adams State College
84-73.
With the loss the Warriors
end the Skyhawk Basketball
Classic with a 0-2 record
for the tournament and a 6-4
record on the year, while
Adams State improves to an
overall record of 6-1.
The Warriors were
shorthanded and simply
out-shot by a very talented
Adams State roster. With
all-conference point guard,
Napoleon Gordon, attending
his grandfather’s funeral,
and Kasey Riley out with an
injury, LCSC had the game
slip away during the final
minutes of the second half.
Despite Adams State shooting
an incredible 60.4 percent
from the field during the
game and 65 percent during
the second half, the
Warriors managed to trail by
only 4 points at halftime
and by only 2, after a
clutch three pointer by
LCSC’s Rob Comer, with 2
minutes and 47 seconds left
in the game.
LCSC senior forward Mike
Gordy, averaging just over
20 points a game for the
season, led the Warriors
with 24 points, while senior
guard Justin Fraser added
16.
Karl Stedman, filling in for
Napoleon Gordon, also gave a
strong performance as he
recorded 6 points, 6
assists, and 3 steals.
LCSC’s rebounding efforts
were led by senior guard
Mikel Watson. Watson had 12
points, 6 rebounds, and 3
assists on the day.
The Grizzlies were led by
the incredible shooting
performance of junior
forward Brandon Graber.
Graber went 9-of-10 from the
field, 4-of-5 from the
3-point line, and 7-of-8
from the free throw line for
a total of 29 points.
The Lewis-Clark State
College men’s basketball
team resumes action and
celebrates Alumni Night on
Friday, December 7, when
they take on Evergreen State
College at 8 p.m. inside the
LCSC Activity Center.
