Brazier and Lawson Named to NAIA Division I Honorable Mention All-America
Team
LEWISTON, ID-Lewis-Clark State College’s Jason Brazier (Antigua, West Indies/College of Southern Idaho) and Sta’Fon Lawson (Lynwood, CA/Edmonds CC) were named to the 2002 NAIA Division I Honorable Mention All-America Men’s Basketball Team, released Tuesday, March 19th. Both were first-team All-Frontier Conference selections earlier this month.
Brazier, a 6-3 junior guard, averaged 18.6 points per game, shot 61.6% from the floor, made 84.4% of his free throws, grabbed 4.9 rebounds per game, and averaged 1.6 steals per game. Brazier field goal percentage was 11th-best in the nation and was 15th in free throw percentage. In the final Frontier Conference report, Brazier finished fourth in scoring (18.6), tenth in rebounding (5.0), fourth in field goal percentage (.617), sixth in free throw percentage (.840), and seventh in steals (1.60).
Lawson, a 6-4 guard/forward, averaged 14.7 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 3.1 apg, 2.1 spg,
0.6 bpg, and made 39.7% of his 3-point field goals. Quite simply, Lawson was
arguably the best all-around player in the Frontier Conference. He broke his
foot in the conference semifinal game against Rocky Mountain and missed L-C’s
first round game against Oklahoma Baptist University. Lawson led the Frontier
Conference in rebounds (8.0), was eighth in scoring (15.1), second in steals
(2.2), and fourth in blocks (0.7).
