advance to Wilson ITA National Small College Tennis

Over the weekend, Maria
Resende captured both the singles and doubles titles in the
Wilson ITA Pacific Northwest Regional Tennis Championship.
She outplayed four opponents in straight sets enroute to her
victory. In the finals, she defeated teammate and doubles
partner Khaliun (Helen) Enkhjargal 6-4 6-3. Following the
singles victory, Maria posted another fine peerfomrance with
Khaliun to win the doubles 6-2 6-3 against the second seeded
pair of Shaira Somani and Ingrid McKibbin of the University
of Alberta.
With the victories, Resende
and Enkhjargal have qualified for the Wilson ITA National
Small College event in Fort Myers, Florida from October
13-16th, 2005. Resende is the sixth Warrior to win the
regional singles crown, and they are the seventh doubles
tandem to win the doubles title.
The Pacific Northwest is one
of eight NAIA regions that will converge on the campus of
Florida Gulf Coast University to battle for national
recognition. The last Warrior representatives were Pei Yuin
Keng and Hephzi Segura in 2003.
