LCSC men’s golf team signs
two recruits
11-21-06
The
Lewis-Clark State College men’s golf team
has added some international flavor with the
signing of two freshmen recruits.
LCSC
golf coach Paul Thompson signed Chris Kneen
from the Isle of Man and James Rooney of
Glasgow, Scotland. Both will join the team
next fall for the 2007-08 season.
Kneen
won the Isle of Man Boys’ Championship the
past two years and had only four rounds of
74 or higher in every tournament he played
in last year. The Isle of Man is an island
located in the Irish Sea at the geographical
center of the British Isles. It’s the
largest island off the coast of England.
“He’s a
freshman with a lot of tournament
experience,” Thompson says. “He has played
in over 30 tournaments in the last two years
and his average score was 70.8.”

Rooney also has been playing solid golf in
tournament action.
“This
year, James has played 33 rounds of
tournament golf and 32 rounds of them have
been at par or better,” Thompson says.
“James was 70-under-par for the total of
those 33 rounds and his average tournament
score was 69.8.”
The
men’s team is ranked No. 25 in the NAIA
Bridgestone Coaches Poll and will lose only
two seniors from this year’s squad. |
