LCSC basketball
teams keep same spots in polls
2-28-07
The Lewis-Clark
State College women’s and men’s basketball
teams rankings went unchanged this week in
the final regular-season NAIA polls, which
were released on Wednesday.
The Warrior
women stayed in the No. 2 spot for the
eighth straight week behind No. 1 and
undefeated Vanguard of California, which
drew all 11 first-place votes. LCSC was
unanimous in the No. 2 spot with the
second-best record in the country. Fellow
Frontier Conference member Montana-Western
moved up one spot to No. 9, while Carroll
fell four spots to No. 11. Montana-Western,
the No. 2 finisher in the conference, was
upset in the opening round of the conference
tournament by Rocky Mountain 61-58 on
Wednesday.
On the men’s
side, LCSC stayed at No. 16, despite its two
wins last week. LCSC is the only Frontier
Conference team ranked in the poll.
Both the LCSC
men and women open Frontier Conference
tournament play on Wednesday night in Butte,
Mont., as the top seeds. Both will play the
No. 8 seed, Great Falls, in the opening
round. |
