LCSC basketball players receive national
honors
3-23-07
OLATHE, Kan. –
Lewis-Clark State College’s Ashley Baker and
Mike Gordy were selected to the second-team
2006-07 NAIA Division I All-America
basketball teams, while Teran Lee was a
third-team selection, NAIA officials
announced this week.
Aundrea
Morrison was an honorable mention selection
despite missing nearly half of the season
with injuries.
Baker, a
6-foot-3 senior post from Omak, Wash., was a
third-team selection in 2006. She was
instrumental in helping the Warriors to a
31-3 record this season and the Frontier
Conference regular-season title. The 31 wins
is the second most in school history. She
averaged a team-highs of 15.6 points and 8.5
rebounds per game and finishes her career as
the school’s all-time leading rebounder.
Gordy, a 6-5
junior forward from Denver, transferred to
LCSC last year from the University of
Northern Colorado. He led the Warriors with
a 16.5 points per game average and also
gathered in 5.5 rebounds per contest. Lee, a
6-3 senior guard from Chicago, made his mark
in his only year in a Warrior uniform. The
transfer from Chicago State averaged 14.1
points and led the team in assists while
finishing second in steals.
Gordy and Lee
shared Frontier Conference co-Player of the
Year honors after leading the Warriors to
both the conference’s regular-season and
tournament titles. The Warriors finished
26-7 on the season.
Morrison, a 6-0
senior forward from Hermiston, Ore.,
averaged 14.1 points and 5.5 rebounds for
the Warriors, but suffered a season-ending
injury halfway through the conference
season. She also was an honorable mention
selection during her junior season.
The men’s
Player of the Year was Jerekus Singleton of
William Carey, while
Vanguard's
Jessica Richter named the women’s Player of
the Year.
