LCSC runners set a school record

PULLMAN – Lewis-Clark State College runners established a school record and narrowly missed another at the Washington State University Invitational track and field meet on Saturday. 

With a handful of cross country runners representing the LCSC team, the results were encouraging as the team approaches the end of the year, LCSC coach Mike Collins says. 

Saturday’s highlights included junior Aaron Galbraith's fourth place finish in the 3,000 meters in a school record time of 8:54.59.  Not far behind was sophomore Adrian Ramirez, who almost broke the old record himself finishing in 9:09.37. 

In addition, sophomore Katja Palm-Loevslett just missed the school record in the women’s 3,000 meters by 0.70 seconds, finishing in 10:47.87.  She was followed closely by Jenny Jensen (11:04), Emily Perkins (11:13), and Lindsay Szybura (11:15). 

Also competing in the 1,500 was Eric Tuwei (4:14) and Kyli Astle (5:00). 

Within only a couple of competitions left this year there are limited opportunities for Warrior runners to qualify for nationals.  Only a couple of Warriors will be competing next week as the rest of the team will be doing a training run while supporting the Seaport River Run on Saturday.   

The next meet where the full team will compete will be in two weeks in Bozeman, Mont., where the team hopes to take advantage of altitude time adjustments that will come from running at elevation on the Montana State campus.
