Lewis-Clark
State College men’s basketball coach Tim
Walker has announced the signing of four
players – two NCAA Division I transfers
and two freshmen – to the 2006-07
Warrior squad.
The new
players include Mike Gordy, a 6-foot-5
power forward from the University of
Northern Colorado, Teran Lee, a 6-3
combo guard from Chicago State
University, and freshmen Napoleon (J.R.)
Gordan, a 5-10 point guard from
Silverdale, Wash., and Max Papendieck, a
6-4 wing from Adelaide, Australia.
Gordy
(pictured left), who is from Denver,
played two seasons at UNC and the
220-pounder was third on the team in
scoring at 7.6 points per game, and
fifth in rebounding at 3.0 per game. In
one half last year against
California-Berkeley, he scored 15
points.
Gordy will
be a junior and plans to major in
Business Administration.
Lee is
from Chicago and averaged 3 points, 2
rebounds and 2 assists per season last
year. He earned more playing time as the
season progressed and eventually claimed
a starting job. He helped CSU advance to
the championship game of the
Mid-Continent Conference Tournament.
Lee is a
senior and will major in recreation.
“Mike and
Teran are obviously very good players to
have signed D-I scholarships,” Walker
says. “We are excited that they have
chosen LCSC to finish not only their
playing careers but also their degrees.
Mike will be a force on the inside in
the Frontier Conference and Teran will
do likewise on the perimeter.”
Gordan
played at Central Kitsap High where last
season he average 16 points, 5 rebounds,
4 assists and 2 steals a game, which
earned him MVP honors in the Narrows
League. He also participated in the
Washington All-Star Game for high school
seniors.
“Getting
J.R. was a huge get for us.” Walker
says. “He was highly sought after in the
Northwest. He is a complete point guard
who is extremely athletic. We are very
fortunate that he chose LCSC to further
his education. The best thing about JR
though is that he is a great person.”
Gordan
plans to major in Business at LCSC.
Papendieck
played for the Norwood Flames club team
in Australia and averaged 18 points, 6
rebounds and 2 assists per game. At
Pembroke High, he averaged 24 points per
game and was the team’s MVP. He also
made the South Australia Team as an
all-state selection. He will major in
Kinesiology at LCSC.
“Max is a
very athletic and strong wing,” Walker
says. “He shoots the ball well and is
tough minded. We’re lucky to have him
in our program. He has a great upside
because he’s so athletic and strong.”
