Small
contingent of LCSC runners fare well
at SCC track meet
3-12-07
A small group
of Lewis-Clark State College cross country
athletes took part in a track meet at
Spokane Community College on Saturday and
came away with three first-place finishes,
two seconds, and a number of other top five
finishes.
Calin Hantau
and Aaron Galbraith both set school records
are barely missed national qualifying marks
in the 1,500 and 5,000 meters, respectively.
Hanau won the 1,500 in a time of 4:03.18.
LCSC coach Mike Collins estimates Hantau
came back from almost 80 meters behind
during the final lap to win.
LCSC runners
finished 1-5 in the 5,000, with Galbraith
winning in a photo finish in 15:29.62.
On the women’s
side, Katja Palm-Loevslett and Emily Perkins
went 1-2 in the 5,000 meters for the
Warriors, and freshman Kyli Astle came
through with a solid performance in the
women’s 1,500 by finishing fourth.
LCSC wont
resume competition for about a month. |
