Villa earns medalist honors at
Carroll Invitational

HELENA, Mont. – Lewis-Clark State College sophomore Juanita Villa fired a final-round score of 77 to win medalist honors in the 54-hole Carroll Invitational, which wrapped up play at the Green Meadow Country Club on Tuesday. 

Villa shot rounds of 73 and 78 during the opening 36 holes on Monday and followed with another solid round during the final 18 for a 228 total, which was seven shots ahead of her nearest competitor. 

Villa’s performance helped the LCSC women to second place in the Frontier Conference tournament. Rocky Mountain won the women’s side with a 952 total, while LCSC was second at 972. 

On the men’s side, LCSC tied for fourth place overall with Westminster at 893. The University of Victoria, a non-conference invitee, won the men’s title with an 847 total, while Montana Tech finished second and top among conference schools with 877. 

LCSC, which finished at 893, had four golfers total 222 scores. Of the four, Patrick Casabonne shot the best round on Tuesday with a 73. 

The Warriors will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday in the Rocky Mountain Invitational at Billings, Mont.  

Men

Team scores – 1, Victoria 847. 2, Montana Tech 877. 3, Rocky Mountain 885. 4, tie, Lewis-Clark State and Westminster 893. 6, Great Falls 947. 7, Montana-Western 950. 8, Carroll College 962.

Medalist – Jade Dennill, Victoria, 66-73-66–205.
