LCSC cross country team
signs recruit from Portland
2-1-07
Chris
McConnell of Portland, Ore., has signed a
letter of intent to run for the Lewis-Clark
State College cross country team this fall,
LCSC coach Mike Collins announced Thursday.
McConnell competed for Madison High School
last fall where he finished fifth at the
state championships in the 5A Division,
which earned him all-state honors. He also
won the conference race and was invited to
the Nike Borderclash, where the best runners
from the states of Oregon and Washington
compete in a race following the cross
country season.
“We are
excited about his potential as he has never
run year-round before and will be competing
in track for the first time this spring,”
Collins says. “It is hard to say how good
he will get to be, but right now things look
very good for him having an outstanding
career here at LCSC and will likely play a
critical role in the team’s goal of winning
a regional title this next fall and breaking
into the top 10 at the (NAIA) national
championships.”
Collins
says McConnell has been home schooled for
most of his education, but has been
participating in the Gateway to College
program where he currently has over a 3.5
GPA and may have as many as 45 college
credits to transfer to LCSC. |
