LCSC men’s cross
country
team cracks the Top 10
9-20-06
The
Lewis-Clark State College men’s cross
country team jumped 12 spots in this week
NAIA national poll, while the women climbed
up another notch.
The
men’s team, which defeated two previously
higher-ranked team at a meet in Seattle last
Saturday, jumped from No. 21 to a
program-best No. 9 in the poll, which was
released Wednesday. The women’s team moved
to No. 13.
“Although it is great to see, I am not sure
that the current rankings truly reflect our
status in the nation right now.” LCSC coach
Mike Collins says. “This is the highest
ranking ever for our men’s team and even
though I think we are capable of being a top
10 team, we still have some work to do to
get there. We will enjoy this for now, and
feel good about things, but we are working
extremely hard to be sure that the ranking
will still be sticking at the end of the
year.
“The
women’s ranking may be a little high as
well, but it is a pretty fair representation
of where we are likely at currently. The
women are also working to get into the top
10. There are still some good teams out
there that haven’t run yet. Once everyone
has gotten a race or two in, we will know a
lot more about our standing in comparison
with everyone else.” Click here to view
