SPOKANE -- Mandy Troutt led five
players in double figures with 17 points to help the Lewis-Clark
State College women's basketball team roll past Whitworth 93-51
in a nonleague contest on Tuesday night.
The Warriors, 5-2 overall, shot
59.2 percent from the field (29-of-49) and enjoyed a 45-24
rebounding edge to claim the third straight win of the season.
Troutt, who was named the MVP of
the Staples Classic last weekend in Lewiston, had another strong
night. she hit 5-of-6 shots from the field and 7-of-8 at the
foul line. She also added six rebounds.
Guards Jade Fulbright and Kim
Preston added 15 points apiece for LCSC, while Breianna Gaines
and Lacie Titmus scored 12 each. Gaines also had six rebounds
while Katie hart added seven assists.
Every Warrior but one scored in the
contest, which saw LCSC race out to a 42-25 halftime lead and
then nearly double Whitworth in the second half by a 51-26
margin.
Whitworth, 1-2 overall, shot just
34 percent from the field, 16-of-47, and also committed 27
turnovers.
The Warriors will be back in action
Saturday and Sunday in the Bay Area for the Menlo Classic. LCSC
will face Concordia University of California on Saturday and
then the host school, Menlo College, on Sunday.
