CHINESE TAIPEI WALK TO WIN Truckers Shutout on Consecutive Nights Aug. 22, 2003 LEWISTON, Idaho – The Chinese Taipei beat the Paffile Truckers 8-0 Friday night to take the first two games of a three-game series at Harris Field. Chinese Taipei pitcher Su Che-Yi was dominate on the hill, allowing only one hit in 7.0 innings, striking out 10 batters. Preserving the shutout was reliever Tseng Chao-Hao who pitched the eighth and ninth, allowing only one Trucker to reach base. The Taiwanese bats complimented the strong pitching performance, recording 10 hits and eight RBI as a team. The team’s offense was significantly helped by Truckers pitching, which walked a total of 14 batters. The Taiwanese broke the game open in the seventh when the Truckers pitching staff allowed three runs via bases loaded walks. The Truckers offense was held off the scoreboard for the second night in a row. The team mustered only two hits and was shutout on consecutive nights. Infielder Derek Bruce and outfielder Billy Steverman recorded the Truckers two hits. The Three-game exhibition concludes at Harris Field Saturday at 1p.m.
