HELENA, Mont. -- Top-four individual finishes by Caroline Bradley and Laura Jefferson led the Lewis-Clark State women's golf team to second place in a tournament predominantly featuring Frontier Conference teams, which concluded Tuesday.

The L-C men, who were second after the first day, slipped to fourth.

Bradley shot 82 Tuesday and finished third overall, while Jefferson registered 85 and ended up fourth.

The Warriors finished the 54-hole tournament (36 holes were played Monday) with a score of 1,013. Rocky Mountain won the women's title with 976.

Also for L-C on Tuesday, Leslie Hodge carded 85 and Krista Solem 84.

Brad Faller shot 76 Tuesday and finished third in the men's individual competition. Luke Baker (75), Tyler Kovash (78) and Derek Williams (79) rounded out Tuesday's scores for L-C, which posted a team score of 881.

Victoria of Canada, one of the non-Frontier Conference teams competing, won the men's title with 854.

L-C will wrap up its fall schedule with a tournament in Billings, Mont., next Monday and Tuesday.

UI's Keller claims OSU title

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- University of Idaho golfer Nicole Keller breezed to a four-shot victory in the Oregon State Shanico Invitational, wrapping up her title on a wet, windy Tuesday.

Keller shot 70-71-73-214, besting second-place Vikki Laing of California. Keller's win came over a field that included four Pac-10 teams and seven teams that qualified for NCAA West Regional last year.

"As far as individual accomplishments go, this is the greatest thing to ever happen to this program -- men or women," Vandals coach Brad Rickel said. "She beat all of those great players. She beat them all. She whooped them all."

Not surprisingly, Keller's victory overshadowed an encouraging day from the rest of the team. The Vandals moved up four spots in only 18 holes, from 15th on Monday to a tie for 11th.

"It was pouring rain, a horrible day to play golf," Rickel said. "But we shot the same number today as we did yesterday, even though the weather was worse."

Washington State was led by Kim Welch, who took 20th with a 227. The Cougars finished 10th in the team standings.
