LCSC women’s tennis team
is No. 14, men’s team is
at No. 18

The Lewis-Clark State
College women’s tennis team
moved up one spot in this
week’s NAIA Top 25 poll, but
the men fell two spots
despite winning both of
their matches last week.
The Warrior women, 5-2,
moved up to No. 14 after
sweeping three Region I
teams a week ago. LCSC is
only Region I team ranked in
the poll and the top-ranked
region team at the end of
the season will earn a berth
to the national tournament.
LCSC has a road trip to
California coming up March
18-21 where they will meet
No. 4 Vanguard, No. 6 Azusa
Pacific, and No. 12 Point
Loma Nazarene, as well as
Concordia.
The LCSC men, which defeated
Region I foe Alberta twice
last week, fell to No. 18
despite improving to 8-5 on
the season. Four of LCSC’s
losses are to NCAA Division
I schools while the fifth is
to defending Division II
national champion UC Santa
Cruz.
The Warrior men also have
the inside track to the
national tournament by being
the highest-ranked Region I
team.
The men make the same
California road trip as the
women. One the men’s side,
Azusa Pacific is No. 2,
Concordia is No. 8, Point
Loma is No. 13, and Vanguard
is No. 16.
LCSC is back in action next
week, playing host to
Spokane Falls Community
College. The women’s match
is at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in
the LCSC Indoor Tennis
Center, while the men’s
match is Thursday, also at 3
p.m. in the LCSC Indoor
Tennis Center.
