LCSC: Had an outstanding freshman season in 2009 and is the top returner in wins for both doubles and singles… Posted a 14-5 record in singles and a 13-8 record in doubles… Usually played at Nos. 2-4 in singles and No. 2 doubles… Won his singles match in the NAIA national tournament against Berry, which LCSC lost 6-3… Only returner to have played in every match last season.

 

BEFORE LCSC: Played for the Junior Davis Cup team for Malaysia in 2005 and 2006 and achieved No. 11 and No. 9 rankings consecutively… Won National Malaysia Junior Hardcourt Championship in the under 16 age group… Was ITF ranked in 2007… Played for the Sukma Sarawak in 2008 and won a silver medal in the men’s team event. 

PERSONAL:
Full name is Zhiahwa Hwa Chong… Born Feb. 23, 1990 in Kuching Malaysia… Parents are Kian Tze Chong and Siok Chen Ch’ng… Has one brother, Zhiahowe, and two sisters, Chiayin and Chia Chee… Hobbies include playing tennis and surfing the internet … Earned straight A’s, was president of the tennis club, and was secretary of the photography club at SMK Green Road school...Earned awards for national math and English competitions in Malaysia.. Is pursuing an pre-Engineering certificate.
