NAMPA — Being on the road for Thanksgiving wasn’t all bad for the Lewis-Clark State women’s basketball team.

Rolling up a 20-point lead in the first half, the Warriors rocked Cascade College of Portland, Ore., 89-55 on Thursday night in a tournament at Northwest Nazarene University.

Six players scored in double figures and a seventh Warrior hit double digits in rebounding.

Lewis-Clark State takes a day off before playing the host team, NNU, at 4:30 p.m. PST Saturday.

The tournament, originally a Friday-Saturday affair, was expanded to three days when one of the four teams withdrew this fall.

All 11 Warriors got in the scoring column, led by Kendra West with 12 points, Katya Yancheva with 11 and Nicki Haerling, Jade Fulbright and Cami Kalbfleisch with 10 apiece.

Katie Hart passed for six assists, and LCSC converted half its 18 tries from 3-point range.

The Warriors have won six of their first eight games, but this "was the first game you say say really positive things about the way we executed offensively," coach Brian Orr said.

Ashley Baker added 11 rebounds, leading the Warriors’ 53-43 edge in that statistic. Their total included 19 offensive rebounds, and they held Cascade to 30-percent shooting.

Shara Brazzle carried Cascade (3-1) with 17 points, nine reboounds, six steals and three steals.

The L-C road trip gave the West sisters, Kendra and Vanessa, a chance to spend part of the holiday with their family in Jerome.
