SALEM, Ore. -- Lewis-Clark State tracked down 23 offensive rebounds and pilfered 24 turnovers, but couldn't overcome its icy shooting touch in a 70-61 loss to Western Baptist.

Against the home team's packed-in zone defense, the Warriors made 22 of 77 tries (29 percent) from the floor. That included a 6-for-33 clip from 3-point range and an 11-for-23 figure at the foul line.

But L-C (6-4) did erase a nine-point deficit with an 18-6 surge in the second half. Nikki Haerling canned a 3-pointer with nine minutes remaining to give the Warriors a 52-49 lead.

Western Baptist answered with nine consecutive points. LCSC got no closer than four behind the rest of the way.

Haerling spearheaded the Warriors with 16 points, six assists and four steals. Kendra West added 13 points and nine boards while Cami Kalbfleisch provided 10 points.

Western Baptist (4-3) was fronted by sophomore guard Tosha Wilson, who poured in a career-high 22 points.

The Warriors will wrap up their Oregon road trip with a game against Cascade College tonight at Portland.
