LCSC to open nationals against Brewton-Parker

The Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team will open the NAIA national women’s basketball tournament next Thursday, March 16, against Brewton-Parker College at 10:30 a.m., Pacific time, in Jackson, Tenn.
The 32-team single elimination tournament kicks off next Wednesday. Complete pairings can be found below.
LCSC brings a 25-6 record into the contest while Brewton-Parker, from Mount Vernon, Ga., is 25-8.
The Barons are coming off a second-place finish in the Southern States Atlantic Conference Tournament. The team is led by 5-foot-6 senior guard Dannisha Winfrey, who was named the SSAC’s Player of the Year. Winfrey averages 17.4 points per game and leads the NAIA at 4.83 steals per outing.
Fellow 6-0 senior guard/forward, Tamika Drinks-Holloway, who was named to the all-conference team for the third straight season, is averaging a team-best 9.7 rebounds per outing, which ranks ninth in the country, and 3.6 steals per game, which is sixth in the country. Ashley Little, a 5-4 senior guard, also was an all-league selection.
The Warriors will see a quick team that likes to press. As a team, Brewton-Parker is forcing 13.7 more turnovers in a game than it commits, which leads the nation. The team is also third in steals at 15.6 per game.
