Baker, L-C women roll past
Fraser Valley 73-42
12-20-06
Ashley
Baker and the Lewis-Clark State College
women’s basketball team made life rough for
University College of Fraser Valley as the
Warriors collected a 73-42 win over the
Canadian visitors Wednesday at the LCSC
Activity Center.
LCSC,
11-1 and ranked No. 8 in the NAIA, forced 31
turnovers and collected 20 offensive
rebounds in the contest. That helped the
Warriors attempt 29 more shots from the
field than the Cascades, 10-11 overall.
Baker
also gave UCFV fits as she collected another
double-double with 19 points and 15
rebounds, both game highs. The 6-foot-3
senior post hit 7-of-18 shots from the field
and was 5-of-9 at the foul line. She also
had seven offensive rebounds.
The
Warriors used a variety of man and zone
defenses to cause the Cascades all sorts of
problems. LCSC guard Jade Fulbright had five
of the team’s 12 steals and deflected
several passes that led to turnovers.
Despite
being ill, Aundrea Morrison added 12 points,
while Janeen Nelson had 11. Mandy Troutt
added eight points and eight rebounds off
the bench as LCSC held a 47-36 edge on the
boards.
For the
game, LCSC hit 29-of-75 shots from the field
for 38.7 percent. The Cascades were 16-of-46
for 34.8 percent, and just 1-of-16 from the
3-point line for 06.3 percent.
Olivia
Hunt led UCFV with eight points and eight
rebounds, while Megan McAlister added eight
points.
The two
teams meet again Thursday night at 6 p.m. at
the LCSC Activity Center. |
