State College women’s basketball coach Brian
Orr announced that
Nichole Miller (Curlew, WA / Curlew High
School),
a 6-foot post player, has signed a letter of
intent to attend the school and play
basketball starting this fall.
“Nichole
represents the qualities that we want our
basketball program to symbolize both on and
off the court,” said Orr. “For an incoming
freshman, she is very strong and has she has
excellent skills as a player. We like the
fact that she can play with her back to the
basket and at the same time she has the
ability to shoot the three.”
Miller
started four years at Curlew High School and
finished her career as the school’s all-time
scoring leader with 2,118 points. She
received All-State honors both her junior
and senior seasons and averaged more than 20
points per game during both campaigns. She
was named MVP of the State B tournament her
junior season and was named MVP of the
Panorama League as a senior.
Miller
established several school records including
all-time rebounds (1,276), highest career
free throw percentage (83.6%), and the best
career field goal percentage at 53.8%.
“The obvious
thing that Nichole brings to the court is
the ability to make baskets and when you
combine that with her proven work ethic we
think she has the potential to become an
outstanding college basketball player,”
stated Orr.
Miller was
salutatorian of her class at CHS and will
major in Education at LCSC. |
