up its defensive
pressure in the
second half with
a 2-2-1 zone
trap, the
Lewis-Clark
State College
women's
basketball shut
down the
University of
Pacific in the
second half to
claim an 86-52
nonleague win on
Friday night.
The Warriors,
8-2 overall, led
40-34 at
halftime after
trailing by six
early in the
half. LCSC then
applied its
full-court
pressure to open
the second half
with a 14-0 run.
LCSC also held
Pacific, 1-4, to
just two points
in the first six
minutes of the
second half and
to just two
field goals in
the first 10
minutes.
Pacific managed
only five field
goals and 18
points in the
second half,
while LCSC
scored 46
points. It's the
second time this
season LCSC has
defeated Pacific
by 34 points.
The Warriors
also helped
themselves on
the offensive
end by shooting
49 percent from
the field
(35-of-71) and
grabbing 11
offensive
rebounds. LCSC
also had 31
assists on its
35 baskets.
LCSC put six
players in
double figures
scoring. Mandy
Troutt and Lacie
Titmus led six
Warriors in
double figures
as both finished
with 14 points
and eight
rebounds.
Breianna Gaines
scored 12, Jade
Fulbright added
11, and Vanessa
West and Sadie
Short each
scored 10.
Troutt has
either reached
double figures
in scoring or
rebounding in
every game this
season.
Katie Hart
finished with
seven assists
for the Warriors
while Fulbright
and Short added
five each.
The Warrior
defense came up
with 10 steals
and forced 21
turnovers in the
game. Pacific
hit 19-of-59
shots for 32
percent
accuracy.
LCSC, which had
only seven
turnovers in the
game, will be
back in action
Saturday night
in Portland to
take on Lewis &
Clark College in
a 7 p.m.
contest.
