Conference honors LCSC’s Troutt and Gordy

BILLINGS, Mont. – Seniors Mandy Troutt and s Mike Gordy have been honored as the Frontier Conference Players of the Week for women’s and men’s basketball, respectively, the conference announced Wednesday. 

Troutt, a 6-foot-2 post from Pullman, Wash., helped LCSC to a 3-0 record last week with wins over Whitworth 93-51, Concordia of California 74-46, and Menlo College 70-42. Troutt averaged 16 points and eight rebounds in the three games and was named the MVP of the Menlo College Thanksgiving Classic. It’s the second straight week she has been named a tournament MVP. 

In the three games, Troutt hit 67 percent from the field and was 16-of-20 (80 percent) at the foul line. 

Troutt, who has 17 points and 13 rebounds in the win over Concordia, has been on a tear this season. She has recorded five double-doubles (double digits in both scoring and rebounding) and has been in double figures in either points or rebounds in every game this season for the 7-2 Warriors.  

Gordy, a 6-5 forward from Denver, Colo., averaged 26 points and 6.5 rebounds last week as the Warriors split a pair of games in the Southern Oregon Tournament. LCSC lost to Oregon Tech 82-67, but bounced back to stop Southern Oregon 95-65 as Gordy scored a career-high 34 points in the contest. 

For the week, Gordy was 23-of-30 from the field and 5-of-7 at the foul line. 

Gordy, a second-team NAIA All American last year, is averaging 21.3 points and 5.9 rebounds a game this season. Gordy is hitting 68 percent from the field, which is seventh in the NAIA, and is scoring average ranks 12th in the nation. 

Also nominated on the women’s side for the award were Stacie Barker of Montana State-Northern, Rebecca Gimeno of Montana Tech, Laci High of Carroll College, Elisa Leader of Westminster College, Jocelyn Moore of the University of Great Falls, and Genna Rucker of Montana Western. Danny Reeder of Westminster was the only other male player nominated.
