LCSC women roll
past Concordia 74-46

ATHERTON,
Calif. -- Holding University of
Concordia-Irvine to just six field goals
and 18 points in the second half
helped the Lewis-Clark State College
women's basketball team score a
convincing 74-46 victory in the opening
round of the Menlo Classic on Saturday
afternoon.
LCSC, 6-2
overall, will face host Menlo College on
Sunday afternoon in the pre-determined
format.
The Warriors
led 31-28 at halftime Saturday and then
broke the game open by outscoring
Concordia 43-18 in the second half. The
big second half helped the
Warriors stand 1-2 on the season
against Golden State Athletic Conference
teams.
Mandy Troutt,
a 6-foot-2 senior post from Pullman, had
her third double-double in the last four
games. She finished with 17 points and
14 rebounds, both game highs. Vanessa
West, Jade Fulbright, and Breianna
Gaines had 10 points apiece. West and
Fulbright added six boards apiece to
help the Warriors control a 41-20
rebounding advantage.
West and
Katie Hart collected three steals apiece
as the Warriors forced 24 turnovers. Kim
Preston added four assists.
All but one
Warrior scored in the game and all but
two collected at least one rebound.
In the
second half, Concordia was 6-of-27 from
the field, for 22.2 percent, and
finished the game at 14-of-47, 29.8
percent.
The Warriors
were 26-of-54 from the field, 48.1
percent, but hit 14-of-27 in the second
half (51.9 percent) and also were
11-of-15 at the foul line in the final
20 minutes.
LCSC and
Menlo play at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
