Lewis-Clark State Volleyball captures the Whitworth Tournament title

The Lewis-Clark State College volleyball team ends the two day Whitworth University round-robin tournament with a perfect 4-0 record, the MVP winner, and the tournament title. With wins on Saturday against the University of Montana-Western 30-17, 30-18, 30-9, and Willamette University in the championship game 30-21, 30-19, 30-19, LCSC has improved its overall record to 6-2.

Cintia Alessi (left), who led the Warrior attack and at times the defense throughout this round-robin, was named tournament MVP, and she was joined on the first team by Brittany Kubik. In the title match versus Willamette University Alessi recorded 11 kills and 17 digs. Anile Clemente also played exceptionally well as she recorded 14 kills with a .542 hitting percentage. Julie Maciboba had 10 kills, Mindy Meyer had 22 assists, Lisa Davis had 19 assists, Lindsay Scott notched 11 digs, and Brittney Kubik made 4 blocks.

Earlier in the day the Warriors made quick work of the Frontier Conference's UM-Western. Alessi once again had a strong performance in this match, as she recorded 9 kills and 18 digs.  Other players with strong contributions were Julie Maciboba with 9 kills, Anile Clemente and Dana Christiansen with 6 kills apiece, Lisa Davis and Mindy Meyer with 20 and 14 assists respectively, and Katie Hinrichs with 19 digs. Overall, LCSC out-blocked UM-Western 11-0.

Lewis-Clark State College's next match is September 13 versus the University of Great Falls. This match marks the Warriors home opener, the start of the Conference schedule, and the Warrior Athletic Association's Warrior Zone Night (click here to learn more).
