LCSC outlasts

State College volleyball
team fought off match
points to come from
behind and claim a
25-30, 30-23, 30-18,
27-30, 17-15 Frontier
Conference win over
Montana State
University-Northern on
Saturday night.
The Warriors, who lost a
five-set thriller to the
University of Great
Falls, have now won 11
of their last 13 matches
to stand at 13-4
overall. LCSC is 7-2 in
conference play, a game
behind leader
Westminster.
LCSC trailed for most of
the fifth game. It was
down 8-6 at the break
when the teams switch
sides and later was down
12-10. Trailing 14-13,
LCSC managed to fight
off match point and
eventually claim the
win.
"We just really made
some great defensive
plays," LCSC coach Jen
Greeny said of the final
points. "I'm really
proud of them for
fighting back."
Brittney Kubik was one
of five Warriors in
double figures in kills
with a team-best 19.
Anile Clement had 13
kills, Marie Balmer 13,
Julie Maciboba 12, and
Dana Christiansen 11.
Lisa Davis led the
Warriors with 37
assists, while Cintia
Alessi had 30 digs.
Maciboba added two
service aces while Kubik
had four blocks.
The Warriors continue
play on the road next
week with their toughest
trip of the season. On
Wednesday, the Warriors
face College of Idaho
(formerly Albertson's
College), and then meets
Westminster in Salt Lake
City on Friday.
Albertson and
Westminster rank No. 1
and 2, respectively in
the Region I standings,
while LCSC is No. 4.
