Cintia Alessi, a first-team
National Junior College
Athletic Association
All-American, has signed a
letter-of-intent to play
volleyball for Lewis-Clark
State College this fall,
first-year Warrior coach Jen
Greeny has announced.
Alessi, a 5-foot-9 outside
hitter, led North Idaho
College in Coeur d’Alene to
a fourth-place finish at
last season’s NJCAA national
tournament. She was named
the Region 18 Player of the
Year last season and was
selected to the All-Region
18 first team her two years
at NIC.
Alessi, who will be a junior
eligibility-wise this fall,
is from Curitiba, Brazil and
was a former coach of a club
team in Mt. Vernon, Wash.
In her first season at NIC,
she played in 83 games and
totaled 278 kills, 20
assists, 36 service aces, 39
blocks, and 298 digs. She
ranked fourth in the Scenic
West Athletic Conference for
both kills and digs, and was
10th in hitting percentage.
Last year, she played in 142
games and totaled 450 kills,
20 assists, 74 service aces,
82 blocks, and 455 digs. She
was third in assists and
aces per game, fifth in the
conference in hitting
percentage, and sixth in
kills per game as NIC
finished 36-8 overall.
The Warriors will have an
exhibition match against an
alumni team on Aug. 25 and
then open the 2007-08 season
on Aug. 31-Sept. 1 in the
Concordia Tournament at
Portland.
