Northwest University defeats Corban 3-2

LEWISTON, Idaho - Lauren Holtz led three Northwest University players in double figures in kills to help the Eagles defeat fellow Cascade Conference member Corban College 25-22, 15-25, 25-16, 20-25, 15-10 in the Holiday Inn Express women's volleyball tournament on Friday at the Lewis-Clark State College Activity Center.

The win helped Northwest finish the opening day of the two-day five-team round-robin tournament with a 1-1 record, while Corban College falls to 0-2.

Holtz tallied 16 kills, while Madeleine Krahn added 13 and Anu Akamine 10. Krahn also added 3.5 blocks and three service aces.

Rashelle Davenport led Corban with 18 kills, while Chelsea Reeher had 10 for Corban.

Both teams will play two matches in the tournament on Saturday. Northwest meets host LCSC at 11 a.m., while Corban plays Westmont at 1 p.m.
