LCSC proves to be too much
for Great Falls
09-20-08
GREAT FALLS,
Mont. – In what was expected
to be one of its bigger
challenges so far this
season, the Lewis-Clark
State College volleyball
team made quick work of the
University of Great Falls on
Saturday, defeating them in
three games 25-16, 25-22,
25-18.
Now with an
overall record of 16-0 and a
4-0 mark in the Frontier
Conference, the Warriors
remain in sole possession of
first place in the
conference, as they stand a
half game ahead of Rocky
Mountain’s 3-0 record, and a
game and a half ahead of
Carroll, Great Falls, and
Westminster who all are 2-1.
Considering
Great Falls had swept
Westminster 3-0 on Thursday
and taken MSU-Northern in
four games the week before,
LCSC coach Jen Greeny was
pleased with the way her
players were up to the
challenge on Saturday. “As a
team we played very well,”
said Greeny. “We were able
to adjust to what they were
doing, and just came out as
the aggressor.
LCSC hit .341
on the match, while Great
Falls hit .080, and
committed only six attack
errors compared to Great
Falls’ 27.
Leading the
attack for the Warriors was
junior Anile Clemente.
Clemente, last year’s
Frontier Conference Player
of the Year and currently
leading the conference with
3.8 kills per game, hit .455
during the match to record
10 kills without any attack
errors.
Julie
Maciboba, Josi Lyman, and
Dana Christiansen all added
five kills apiece, Lisa
Davis and Abby Bruya had 15
and 14 assists respectively,
and Lindsay Scott led
defensive efforts with 11
digs.
“Great Falls
is a great team,” said
Greeny. “I don’t think they
played their best, but we
did execute really well.”
Currently
enjoying the best record in
the NAIA, Lewis-Clark State
sets its sight on the trip
to Salt Lake City on Sept.
26. “Now we’ll go home and
prepare for Westminster,”
Greeny said. “We’ll just
keep thinking one match at a
time.”
