LCSC
volleyball team
keeps rolling with sweep of
Westminster
09-26-08
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah --
Josi Lyman and Anile
Clemente led a strong
1-2 punch to help the
Lewis-Clark State
College women's
volleyball team remain
undefeated on the season
with a 25-15, 25-16,
25-22 win over
Westminster in Frontier
Conference action on
Friday night.
The win lifts the
Warriors, ranked No. 12
in the NAIA, to 17-0
overall and 5-0 in
conference play. All but
three of LCSC's wins
have been in straight
sets, including all five
in conference play. The
Warriors are off to
their best start since
the 2000 season when LC
won its first 20
matches.
Lyman, a 6-foot-2
freshman from LaGrande,
Ore., led the Warriors
with 12 kills and hit
.360 for the match,
while Clemente, a
junior, added 10 kills
and hit .381. Clemente
also had two aces and
eight digs.
As a team, the Warriors
hit .267, compared to
.090 for Westminster.
"It wasn't real crisp
but we still played
pretty well," LCSC coach
Jen Greeny said. "What a
difference a year makes
in expectations. We
still have more things
to work on and I still
think we can get better,
but we are playing
pretty well overall."
Lindsay Scott led LCSC
with 20 digs, while
freshman Abby Bruya had
22 assists and 10 digs.
Senior Julie Maciboba
was big at the net with
seven kills, a .400
hitting percentage, and
3.5 blocks, including
two solo blocks.
LCSC used 14 players in
the match to drop
Westminster to 3-2 in
conference play at 3-9
overall.
The Warriors complete
the first half of
conference play with a
pair of home matches
this week. On Thursday,
LCSC entertains Carroll
College at 7 p.m., and
then plays host to Rocky
Mountain College at 2
p.m. on Saturday. Both
matches will be played
at the LCSC Activity
Center.
Next weekend also is
Alumni Weekend for all
Warrior alumni
volleyball players.
Events are planned on
both Friday and Saturday
and more information is
