Warrior Coach Ed Cheff

Entering his 23rd season at Lewis-Clark State College, Ed Cheff has made many contributions to baseball and has developed one of the nation's most successful collegiate baseball programs. The Warrior coach and his players have been active in community charity fundraising for such organizations as the American Heart Association, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, and the Valley Boy's and Girl's Club. He is a frequent speaker at various clinics, and has addressed the American Baseball Coaches Association Clinic, the Idaho High School Coaches Association, the Washington High School Coaches Clinic, The British Columbia Baseball Federation Clinic, and numerous Pensco clinics.

When Collegiate Baseball Magazine named coach Cheff as the NAIA Coach of the Decade (1980s), a great deal of mention was given to other components of the Warrior program that made a greater statement as to the quality of the program than wins and losses. He has been selected as the NAIA Coach of the Year five times.

In 1991 coach Cheff served as an assistant coach for the USA Senior National Team. He also was on the coaching staff for the West team during the Olympic trials held in Homestead, Florida in 1992. In 1994, he again worked with the USA Team as the hitting coach and coached third base.

On May 11, 1996 coach Cheff captured his 1,00 career win with a doubleheader sweep over Central Washington. He became only the 3rd coach in NAIA history to win 1,000 baseball games.
