ACOBT 101 - Basic Accounting I
(3 cr.) ACOBT 102 - Basic Accounting II (3 cr.)Continuation of ACOBT 101 with emphasis on merchandising accounting using specialized journals. Computer applications are included. Pre-requisite: ACOBT 101 or equivalent. ACOBT 105 - Payroll Accounting (2 cr.)Payroll accounting systems, procedures, and time-keeping methods to comply with current laws and regulations. Pre-requisite: ACOBT 101 or equivalent. ACOBT 211 - Business Accounting (3 cr.)Survey of accounting with emphasis on basic accounting principles, use of accounting data, presentation, and analysis as related to business decision making. Students will be exposed to computerized, small business software. ACOBT 214 – Computerized Accounting I (1 cr.)Introduction to computerized accounting using current accounting software. The course integrates the normal accounting cycle for a service business into proper computer applications. Topics include accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and end-of-period procedures. Requires previous accounting course work. Pre-requisite: ACOBT 101 or equivalent. ACOBT 215 - Computerized Accounting II (1 cr.)Continuation of ACOBT 214 with an emphasis on computerized accounting procedures for a merchandising business. Topics will include computerizing a manual accounting system and payroll procedures. Pre-requisite: ACOBT 101 and ACOBT 214. ACOBT 231 - Principles of Accounting I (3 cr.)Introduction to financial accounting principles, practices, and decision making. Covers the accounting cycle, financial statements, merchandise, plant and equipment, inventories, intangibles, natural resources, and payroll. ACOBT 232 - Principles of Accounting II (3 cr.)Continuation of ACOBT 231 covering accounting for partnerships, corporations, bonds payable and investments, cash flow analysis, managerial accounting concepts, manufacturing, cost accounting, and budgeting. Pre-requisite: ACOBT 231 ACOBT 240 - Current Bookkeeping Procedures (1-2 cr.)Acquaints second year bookkeeping students with issues in setting up an accounting system for a new business and bookkeeping practices encountered on the job. Pre-requisite: Consent of the instructor. |
