AUTBD 110 - Introduction to Collision Repair (6 cr.)

After completing this unit of instruction, the student should have a good understanding of the basic operations of a collision repair facility, and have developed safe work habits. The student will also understand vehicle design and be familiar with the tools, equipment, and fasteners used in the repair of damaged vehicles.

AUTBD 120 - Non-Structural Repairs I (6 cr.)

Upon completion of this unit of instruction, the student will be able to demonstrate basic metal straightening techniques, proper use of body fillers, correct procedures used to replace and align bolt-on body panels, and a knowledge of working with trim and hardware. The student will learn to perform these tasks at industry standard levels.

AUTBD 140 - Non-Structural Repairs II (6 cr.)

After completing this unit of instruction, the student will be able to demonstrate the basic steps used to replace welded and bonded body panels. The student will have a thorough understanding of working with movable glass and its hardware, and be able to create a repair estimate on damaged vehicles.

AUTBD 150 - Structural Repairs I (6 cr.)

After completing this unit of instruction, the student will be able to analyze structural damage through proper measuring techniques. The student will be able to anchor vehicles to frame equipment and straighten or realign structural members and will perform all welding tasks that are used in collision repair, to industry standards.

AUTBD 190 - Directed Study (1-6 cr.)

Individualized instruction and self-study to meet specific training objectives. Projects provided to give specialized training for advanced students.  Objectives established with advisor at registration.  Credits earned based on difficulty and scheduled clock hours.  Minimum two hours per week is required for each credit.  Final grade based on effort, project results, and detailed written report of project.

AUTBD 196 - Co-op (1-6 cr.)

Individually prescribed instruction and self-study to meet specific training objectives.  May be repeated.  Credit earned not directly applicable to degree or certificate.

AUTBD 210 - Structural Repairs II (6 cr.)

After completing this unit of instruction, the student will be able to apply his/her knowledge of replacing complete or partial structural members of damaged automobiles. The student will also be able to demonstrate how to restore factory corrosion protection, and how to replace and service stationary glass, and passenger restraint systems to industry standards.

AUTBD 220 - Mechanical Repairs (6 cr.)

After completing this unit of instruction, the student will have the basic knowledge to diagnose and replace or repair automotive mechanical systems including, steering and suspension, electrical systems, brake systems, air conditioning and cooling systems, drive trains, fuel, intake and exhaust systems, and passenger restraint systems.

AUTBD 230 - Refinishing I (6 cr.)

After completion of this unit of study, the student will be able to properly prepare a vehicle surface for undercoat and topcoat systems, apply knowledge in using and maintaining paint booths, spray guns and related refinishing equipment, and will demonstrate proper spraying techniques.

AUTBD 240 - Refinishing II (6 cr.)

Upon completion of this unit of study, the student will be able to apply color theory to matching vehicle colors, prevent and solve paint defect problems, and properly detail automobiles and new paint finishes. The student will demonstrate proper repair and refinish methods for plastic and composite body panels and will be exposed to some custom paint techniques.

AUTBD 292 - Directed Special Projects (1-6 cr.)

The student and instructor will develop a set of objectives and a time guideline to complete advanced skills in the course and a plan to achieve the objectives.
