Clarkston High harrier Kane signs with Warriors

John Kane, a senior at Clarkston High School in Washington has signed a letter of intent to run for the Lewis-Clark State College men’s cross country team next fall, Warrior coach Mike Collins has announced.

“John is an extremely hard worker and has shown great enthusiasm and desire to becoming a better runner,” Collins says. “I know that he trained very hard in high school, sometimes maybe too hard, but that energy and commitment to getting better is something we are definitely looking for when it comes to the runners on our team.”

Kane competed for coach Brian Denton at Clarkston, where he is an outstanding student and a GPA of better than 3.30.

Collins says he’s happy to continue with the development of Clarkston runners on the team.

“Other than my very first year as coach here at L-C State we have always had at least one Bantam runner on the team and they have always been significant contributors to the success of the program,” Collins says. “I have no doubt that will continue with John. John fits very well with one of the other priorities in the program - academics.

“It is important to me that we do our best to keep the best local runners here if at all possible. Having the support of the community around them along with their family and friends has seemed to be a critical part to their academic and athletic success.”
